home wiring insurance inepctions and may do Kob & Tube replacement wiring.
May 3,2011 - PEASE NOTE: Any Rewiring estimates given out before April 27 and not yet accepted will be dealt with on or about November this year. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
Update: May 2009 - Manitoba Hydro EFP financing plan rates are reduced to 8.5% from 11%.
Update August 2010: We do rewiring estimates on site only for those who already have an estimate
and such estimate works out to be higher than $170.00 per item to be rewired!
On site estimates for other than service upgrades are to be prepaid aproximately 3 days in advance "on line" using PayPal.
If wanting to know more about REWIRING, see my web page at:

Some information about knob & tube replacement costs.
This is for your information only. It is not intended for you to call us quickly for an estimate to replace the knob & tube wiring because we may or may not do such an estimate and may or may not even do that type of work!. Check with us to find out if we are still active in doing such work. We keep changing according to customer demands! We do most rewiring work in the winter months. In the summer there is more demand for Commercial work or light industrial or residential service upgrades. We do all types of work, but most of it is well selected - being well selected means keeping away from competing against the hundreds of "hacks " doing electrical work in this City!"
For a rewiring estimate (to resident home owners only) we will require a pre payment of $80.00 + taxes to set up and travel to the premises. The actual estimating time is free. This pre payment is available to be made through Paypal on line. This is another way I have devised so that some customers have some cost attached to the FREE information they get from me before hiring the "hacks" to follow my work design or methods as I explain them to my customers .
Note: The pre payment amount will be credited to you later on when we are hired to do the work!
For pre payments go to this page: http://www.actionelectric.ca/onlinepayments.htm
Replacing knob & tube wiring is one of the most difficult jobs in residential type work. Many agreeable concepts have to come together for us to do such work.
You may choose a method of us tearing down part of walls & ceilings or you may do it yourself and then access to run cables becomes easier and much more reasonable in price. If you choose some magic method, which many think it exists, of running cables without doing surface damadges, then it may or may be possible in many areas of your home, however, in that case, be prepared to pay double or triple for your rewiring !
To rewire a one storey single family home, which is one storey and of standard construction, expect $5,000.00 to over $8,000.00 and can double this amount! Expect to have holes LEFT all over to be patched and to be painted afterward at extra costs on your own! We patch up all openings. A 2 storey over $12,000 and a 3 storey can cost $12,000.00 to $18,000 to well over $30,000. No two rewiring jobs are EVER alike!
If you count all your lights, plugs, switches etc. and ADD about 6 items more (required by the City inspectors - bylaws) and multiply the total times $200.00 each and without having to extremely butchering your home , you may come close to what a contractor may charge for such work. We do the work with conditions which suit you best! Give us a call to find out more.
One of the requirements we suggest before we give you an EXACT estimate (if possible) is that we do a trial run on the replacement of the knob & tube work for a day or so at $70.00/hour + taxes - Approximately $500.00 PREPAYMENT ON LINE USING PayPal. A permit is not YET taken out yet because there will be NO CABLES run anywhere or materials used up! This trial run is to establish which areas will work out best to run cables with the least damadges and we may put in some pull lines to fish the cables later. This trial method already involves doing all types of damadges to your walls and ceilings. You have to go ahead with the rewiring regardless of who you are going to HIRE to continue with it later!
You can choose to continue later by the hour at a minimum rate of $70/hr. The hourly rate may change anytime without notice, except not after a job is started of course!
