IMPORTANT CHANGES IN EFFECT AS OF June 06/2011.
There are current & up to date changes taking place right NOW to the way we do business re: the type of electrical work we do,
availability to do it and methods of payments and NEW hourly rates. Includes anything which may have changed from time to time and some even ocurr daily!
Any changes below WILL SUPERSEDE any information given out in other topics or ANYWHERE on this website - which may already be outdated TODAY and will be corrected as soon as possible.

Please note:
I am qualified and licenced to do ALL types of electrical work, however, the restrictions and changes below are for better service to present and future customers and for ongoing business success etc.
One specific change (after 30 years) is the charge for SOME estimates. That will prevent me from touring the city of Wpg criss cross all day for nothing. The customer is CREDITED LATER
for accepting me to do the work!

As per public demand, I will also be involved in Knob & Tube wiring replacement. The set up will be mainly for those who want and are able to do the rough part of the work which is
OPENING UP ACCESSES through out the home and even run cables EXACTLY as I have indicated and instructed. This method will reduce the cost of rewiring your home even up
to 3/4 of the going price by LEGITIMATE contractors. Contact me for more details. For this set up, there is no "estimate charges" as indicated below - see July 20, 2011.
This set up applies only to RESIDENT HOME OWNERS!

In case some work has to be calculated (for labour) as "charges per/hour - per/worker" ON SITE, the rate is from $60-$80.00/hr (depends how far from downtown!)
for residential work and $110.00/hr for Commercial work
and $130.00/hr for Industrial work. Travelling time will be added when the work takes less than 5 hours to be accomplished. Materials, equipment, taxes,
permit fees etc. will be added to the labour amounts.

Due to public demand, we may also do REWIRING ESTIMATES SUCH AS for TOTAL Knob & Tube wiring replacement etc. However, there is an estimate charge of
$100.00 + taxes for work which may take 1 or 2 hours to be accomplished and $200.00 for work which would take longer + taxes to be PREPAID online
using "PayPal" If we are hired later to do such work, ALL estimate charges will be credited to the customer when I finish off the work.

On site Free Estimates apply only to SERVICE OR PANEL UPGRADES and TOTAL electrical heating installation in a home. Includes ALL areas
EXCEPT there may be a mi. estimate charge for far SOUTH WINNIPEG AND far SOUTH WEST areas.

The minimum charge for a service upgrades is still $1,900.00 + TAXES. The only exception is if the total existing circuits in the home are only 10 or less

PEASE NOTE: Any Rewiring estimates given out before Oct 18th and not yet accepted will likely be dealt with later this winter.
I will, very likely, not do that type of work until the new year.

As per public demand, we only do service or panel upgrades to 100 or 200 amperes. May also do a few hours of other type of electrical urgent work needed
but only anything already pre determined to be done at the same time as the scheduled service upgrade but will not be ADDED
once the service upgrade has started or may only be done in approximately 1-3 weeks time.

'Short service calls' are probably where we do not respond immediately due to extensive time loss on the road traveling back and forth most of the time 40 minutes each way
(50 in the winter) with a fully loaded van. The customer only sees us there for 10 or 15 minutes to 1/2 hour yet more than 1/4 or 1/3 of the working day is already used up!.
Further, such calls put us in a situation where the next call or the next scheduled work may be delayed or altered or canceled or lost all due to timing, travel delays etc.
November 30/2011 - Please NOTE - for service calls which are for a home
electrical inspection (usually 1hour) or a consultation
about doing your OWN WIRING or for anything else
similiar, which IT IS KNOWN in advance how long it will
take, there should be no problem!

NOTE: We do not do work such as RRAP Programs work - all due to (in my opinion of what I have seen over 20 years) some unscrupulous GENERAL contractors who hire handymen to do electrical work under a permit taken out by another unscrupulous electrician. We are not bidding against such workers EVER. We may or may not do such work (usually MAY ONLY DO the service upgrade when ALL paid in advance - no exceptions). If it is decided we do the service upgrade it will be only when dealing directly with the homeowners when they are the "general contractor". This will prevent (many in this city) shoddy moonlight GENERAL contractors with a leaning rusted old half ton truck to mark up our work (making us a subcontractor) and then charge you outrageous prices! I am confident that "Our work quality and business ethics" exceeds at least by 10 fold compared to such handymen low down characters - pretending to be electricians in this city. (I have met dozens over the last 30 years) often chosen by the home owners and even by the RRAP inspectors. As far as RRAP inspectors, in my opinion, they just work with numbers (most are not EVEN ELECTRICIANS) insuring that the electrical work does not exceed the pre set $3,000.00 or $5,000.00limit amount or whatever it is presently. Some homes require even well over $10,000.00 worth of electrical work to be done properly and safe - in many homes they don't even include replacing the 100 year old knob & tube wiring which is peeling off and arcing WHILE requiring the service upgraded to 100 amps when there is nothing wrong with it! Usually I find many VERY CRITICAL repairs needed which were GROSSLY overlooked by such inspectors and not included in the project outline. "Many times I Try to be a good samaritan and did it on my own = never got paid for it!" = learned a good lesson.
In any case, give us a call regarding any electrical work by such processes. We may give you some guidance, references, advice on your project. MOST IMPORTANT - MANY INSPECTORS ARE NOT ELECTRICIANS - You have to trust the installer yourself!
Some more information regarding business or general contractors who like to take advantage of smaller operators like me!We may, at times, also do selective commercial and industrial work, however, payments have to be strictly "PAY AS YOU GO" We do not accept work PO's. numbers to start the job or some other IMPRESSIVE number given over the phone from NEW YORK etc. as if to make it sound important and legitimate!. We accept only A REAL PAYMENT and paid with a certified check in Canadian currency funds only and likely part of it or all is to be paid in advance when from aliens!. We are not in the financing business, therefore, we do not waite 90 days to get paid as some foreign people or aliens with commercial properties or business in Winnipeg or some others from another planet would like it very much to be so!

About short service calls - a better solution:
We don't do UNKNOW WORK in advancve short service calls, however, the following is only for your information!
Every home (or building) built 10 years ago
already needs over 1-3 hours of CRITICAL electrical repairs and at least
another hour for safety maintenances such as tightening of the circuit breakers
screws especially where there is aluminum wiring, replace loose and worn
out switches, receptacles etc. Most homes 20 and 30 years old would need 5
- 10 hours of critical electrical repairs. Older homes usually need 2
or 5 days to over one week of critical electrical repairs to make it
entirely electrical safe for
habitation!
Therefore, the following are usually
the best economical choices for a service
call:
Have the electrician do the work as per your call and ALSO
spend the remaining time - up to 3 hours checking the safety of the
installation. To be practical for everyone and especially economical for the
customer, the total time on site should be a minimum of 3 hours or
part thereof at a pre determined minimum charge to be
calculated on the distance traveling from the 'city centre.' - however expect
$250.00 minimum charge for any electrical work.
